Summer Concerts 2022

A Breath of French Air

For those who missed our French-themed programme on 18th June at Abbeystrewry Church in Skibbereen,  there will be a second opportunity at St Barrahane’s church in Castletownsend, where we will be performing as part of the St Barrahane’s Summer Music Festival on 11th August.

This programme will include Fauré’s Requiem as well as a selection of solo songs and duets and instrumental solos. The choir will also perform Dirait-on from “Les Chansons Des Roses” by non-French composer Morten Lauridsen and “Plaisir d’amour” by Jean-Paul Martini. Other works will include the amazing aria, ‘Caro Nome’ from Verdi’s Rigoletto. The French connection remains unbroken as the libretto of Rigoletto is based on a story by Victor Hugo.

We are looking forward to welcoming two rising stars to sing for us. Both are currently completing their studies at the Cork School of Music.  We are also delighted to have the support of local musicians who will join us for the Requiem and other works.
