The two events on Sherkin Island were the culmination of the choir’s 30th anniversary year. The first, “Soup, Songs and Sandwiches”, took place at the “Jolly Roger” with young musician, Kevin Kearney, accompanied by Noel Burke and Uwe Hage. The choir sang a selection of traditional music and rounds aimed at encouraging audience participation. Thanks to Kevin Lewis and Alfie Kennedy for accompaniments. Following refreshments at the pub we moved on to St Mona’s church for the main concert.
“A Little Summer Music” took audience, choir and musicians through an incredibly varied programme of folk, jazz and classical music. It was a joy to have the mixture of seasoned musicians with talented youngsters alongside enthusiastic choristers and supporters. A special mention has to go to Lyubov Parkomenko who delighted everyone with her glorious voice, singing stirring songs from the Ukrainian repertoire.
