We were so lucky to include two amazing Ukrainian singers to perform with us at our summer concert. The programme was full of absolute gems from the opera repertoire along with a couple of rousing songs from music theatre.
Lyubov Parkhomenko – Soprano
Born in the Khmelnytskyi region. She dreamed of becoming a singer from childhood. Her studies and creative path began at the Mykola Gogol Nizhyn State University faculty of Culture and Arts. After being awarded her diploma she worked as a vocal teacher and choir leader for 17 years. She also performed widely in concert halls and stages of the city and across the region. Lyubov moved to Ireland, with her husband and 3 children, following the invasion of her homeland. She has quickly become part of our choir and active in her local community.
Olha Palazchenko – Mezzo soprano
Grew up in Mariupol surrounded by music. She dreams of becoming an international opera singer. She graduated from Mariupol College of Music and has recently been able to continue her training through distance learning at the Academy of Music in Ukraine. Olha arrived in Ireland a year ago, finding a refuge here with her husband and young son. She says ‘I love music because it is the most powerful means of expressing the emotions.
