Born and raised in South Wales, Diana comes from a family of celebrated musicians. She began learning to play piano as a small child and then took cello lessons at secondary school, thus following in her father’s footsteps. She was a member of the Glamorgan County Youth Orchestra and Choir and was also selected to play with the
National Youth Orchestra of Wales.

Diana trained as a teacher at the University of Winchester in the UK, taking Music as her main subject, and in 1971 she took up the post of Visiting Teacher of Instrumental Music back in her home county. She was eventually promoted to Senior Tutor and was given the post of ‘Conductor in Charge’ of one of the three regional youth orchestras. This catered for 350 young musicians every Saturday morning, guided by a team of eighteen tutors.

Diana has lived in Ballydehob since 1993 and now teaches music at Schull Community College, at Rathduane National School (Baltimore) and St Matthias National School (Ballydehob).

Since accepting the post of Musical Director of the West Cork Choral Singers, Diana has had lessons in voice training from the highly respected singer and voice coach Robert Beare of Bandon.
